Program Description
Mechanical engineering combines a range of technical, creative, and management skills. It plays an important role in a range of sectors including aerospace, energy management, and surgical innovation. Our IS2 in Mechanical Engineering is the first stage of your integrated BEng (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering or BEng (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering with Renewables degree course. You will be introduced to a wide range of Engineering principles including solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, Engineering design software and Engineering control systems. You will also complete an Engineering project. Upon successful completion of the IS2 programme you will continue your degree studies with the School of Science and Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with both courses meeting, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) by IMechE and the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). The International College Dundee programme has been approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as a pathway to the BEng (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and BEng (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering with Renewables at University of Dundee. This will enable students to gain accreditation status on successful completion of their Honours degree*. * Mutual recognition of professional qualifications following is a priority for UK professional bodies and universities.
