Program Description
BSc (Hons) Computer Science is an exciting course designed to give you the knowledge, understanding, skills and experience that are sought after by potential employers and industry experts. The course’s approach to learning and teaching is based on engaging students through the provision of an intrinsically interesting, academically challenging and coherent course experience that supports your development as a Computer Science professional. You will be introduced to a range of Computer Science topics that will explore key concepts and techniques relating to this dynamic field of study and provide you with an understanding of software engineering skills. These include the use of systems software to manage business systems, various industry-standard programming languages and the ability to combine existing ways of working with new ones to provide the required output. These skills are expanded throughout your degree to support you working confidently independently and as part of a team in complex, unfamiliar contexts. This will involve gathering and evaluating different types of information, identifying problems, developing and documenting solutions and making effective use of technology to generate transformative solutions. On our 4-year sandwich degree, you can get a head start with your career with a one-year work placement. Recent work placement destinations include Accenture, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, GE Capital and Renishaw. Students often get their graduate jobs with these organisations.
