Program Description

Psychologists have long collaborated with criminal justice professionals to understand the behaviours of those who choose to carry out criminal acts, as well as how the mentally ill are treated within the system. Bringing together our practical expertise in both Psychology and Criminology, this course offers you the opportunity to build an in-depth understanding of psychological skills, knowledge and values, while also exploring its applications in the criminal justice system. You’ll gain insight into society and the associated pressures and influences, while exploring what motivates people to commit crimes, the effect crime has, and how it could be prevented. Successful completion of this fascinating subject will enable you to see things from multiple perspectives, giving you a competitive advantage in a range of career opportunities, such as within policing, intelligence services, civil service, charities or prisons. It will also allow you to pursue further education in specialist areas, such as forensic psychology.
