Program Description

Environmental engineers use chemistry, biology, ecosystem, and engineering principles to assess, remediate, and monitor air, water, and land pollution challenges. Environmental engineers address multiple issues, ranging from how to minimize climate change effects on our infrastructure and systems, to providing clean drinking water, to cleaning wastes before they re-enter our ecosystems. Ensuring that our operations are sustainable for future generations is one of the greatest challenges facing society, and environmental engineers are part of the solution. Allows students to tackle the challenges that can harm human and ecosystem health and to design real-world processes and systems that remove contaminants before they are released into our air, water and soil,Includes the study and application of the latest technologies, systems and approaches for preventing and reducing pollution, increasing eco-efficiency and promoting renewable energy, that lead to innovative, sustainable and economical solutions for our planet.The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers two separate degree programs: Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Both programs are similar in many respects, but each offers its own unique strengths.
