Program Description

In the Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Sciences) degree at CapU, you'll gain the skills to make a difference in the environmental workforce. As climate change and the depletion of natural resources continue to impact the planet, we must seek new directions for our society. A new group of change-makers who understand the value of creating sustainable solutions that benefit humans and their environment are needed. In the environmental sciences program, you'll spend your first two years taking vital baseline science courses in critical disciplines, including biology, botany, chemistry, computer sciences, ecology, geography, research and statistics. This interdisciplinary degree equips students with the skills to make a difference in the environmental workforce. Students will dive into biology, botany, chemistry, ecology, and geography, while also exploring Indigenous and social sciences. You'll also take electives in Indigenous and First Nations topics, social sciences and writing before moving into the upper levels of the program. Like the Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies) program, you'll choose from a variety of modules as you move into the upper levels of the program: biodiversity and conservation climate change mitigation and adaptation urban sustainability Each path is comprised of four courses and offers its own distinct set of challenges. This flexible module structure allows you to build advanced skills, specialize in fields of interest and engage in focused community-based projects.
