Program Description

The BA (Hons) Architecture program at the University of Portsmouth is an intensive degree course that focuses on practical architecture skills, alongside the understanding of cultural, social, technical, and sustainable issues. This course is validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) towards gaining professional chartered status. Over the course of the program, students develop skills in architectural drawing, model-making, and computer-generated design and get a chance to work on live briefs from real clients. The curriculum provides an understanding of people and cultures and how they influence the design of buildings and places. The program also offers a range of extracurricular activities such as field trips, exhibitions, and public lectures, and students can participate in architectural design competitions. Work placements and internships are encouraged, providing students with practical experience and networking opportunities in the field.
