Program Description

The Bachelor of Science, Minor in Geography provides students with a broad foundation in physical geography and an introduction to geographical information systems (GIS). The program focuses on the study of the distribution of biophysical phenomena (climate, land, plants, animals, water), on Earth and examines the processes that control their origin and evolution. Students have the opportunity to develop skills in research methods, geographic communication, modeling spatial data, and producing and analyzing maps using GIS. The program is of special interest to those who wish to pursue a career in environmental science or education. It is ideally suited for students studying earth sciences, biology, forestry or ecology.
