Program Description

Careers in finance include corporate finance officer (CFO), stock trader, portfolio manager, financial analyst, banker, insurance broker and personal financial advisor. The chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation requires a background in accounting, business, and economics consistent with our finance minor requirements.Finance minors are introduced to classical economic theory while learning application skills and techniques related to analysis and planning, valuation, working capital management, strategic long-term investment and financing decisions, international financial management, and mergers and acquisitions. Knowledge of French and French-speaking cultures is advantageous in many careers. The French major at Hartwick is designed to develop students’ fluency in oral and written language skills and to equip them with cultural competence.
