Program Description

Build a career that feeds your passion for equity and social justice. Explore how gender identity shapes our lived experiences while learning how to apply an intersectional lens to social and political issues. This interdisciplinary program gives you the tools to combat oppression and create a more just and equitable world. Explore how inequality affects our day-to-day lives. Discover how ​gender identity defines the positions we occupy at home and at work. A minor in women and gender studies can open your eyes to these and other gender-related issues confronting everyone in today's world. In the classroom, you’ll dive deep into topics such as witchcraft and magic, fashion and LGBTQ identity, and women in world history. Minors also participate in dialogues classes that train students to communicate across social divisions and create more inclusive academic and social spaces. Outside the classroom, you'll work alongside faculty and fellow students on projects that matter to you. Participate in a body positivity fashion show with the Feminist Leaders on Campus (FLOC), or join Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates (SAPA) for Women's Empowerment Week in campaigning to create safer spaces on campus and in the wider world. You'll graduate with the tools to recognize and expose injustice and to make the world a better place.
