Program Description

The mission of the School of Social Work is to promote social justice through quality professional education, advocacy, community partnerships and the development and dissemination of knowledge. By combining social work courses with courses in disability studies, psychology, sociology, women’s and gender studies, and other disciplines, our program will prepare you for professional registration in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and elsewhere. Social work engages with individuals, families, communities and societies to improve the quality of life. It is a growing and challenging profession with many opportunities for personal and professional development. Includes professional concentration in Years 3 and 4, providing extensive field education in more than 50 social service agencies in Windsor and Essex County. A Bachelor of Social Work degree can lead to careers in community agencies, hospitals, correctional services, schools, substance abuse programs, children’s aid societies, residential centres, homeless services, disability organizations, social planning bodies and advocacy associations.
