Program Description

If you’re excited about the opportunity to begin an in-demand career built on respect and a highly specialized set of skills, Fanshawe's Practical Nursing program will move you closer to your dreams. You’ll begin by learning the dynamic role of the Practical Nurse in the healthcare community while preparing to be an important member of the health care team. You’ll learn all about anatomy, nutrition and pharmacology, and the nuances of personal and working relationships. You'll study theory in the classroom, practice your nursing skills with rigorous lab work, and get plenty of hands-on clinical practice in acute and long term care environments, under the guidance of a qualified supervisor. You’ll also learn the skills necessary to work with individuals, families, groups and communities in a variety of settings. This program also utilizes simulation learning.
