Program Description

The BA (Hons) International Development and Languages program at University of Portsmouth is a full-time, undergraduate course that stimulates students’ understanding of global issues, such as poverty and inequality, and teaches them how to effect positive change in these areas. The program includes core subjects like understanding development, issues in world politics and key issues in global development. The languages component of the course is flexible and offers learning at all levels in French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, Russian and Italian. The program also includes a year abroad, which can be spent studying, working or volunteering. As such, graduates are deftly prepared for careers in the international development field, with the additional benefit of significant language skills.
