Program Description
The MA Media and Development program at the University of Westminster is a comprehensive study course, focusing on the relationship between media and developmental issues, particularly in the Global South. Emphasizing on both theoretical and practical perspectives, the program dives deep into topics like globalization, human rights, democratization, and the impact of new technology and digital media. The students gain a deep understanding of the roles media and communication play in developmental, political, and cultural scenarios. Global media practices, international communication, and media development policies are also key areas of study. Additionally, students get the chance to explore case studies, related to subjects such as gender, environment, or health communication. The program is designed for students aiming to work, or already working within development organizations, NGO’s, or in media related fields. It's a one year course for full-time students and takes two years for part-time students.
