Program Description
Our MA Western Marxism course will give you important subject knowledge in Western Marxism as well as wider research skills. You will study at a world-leading centre for Western Marxism, with modules focused on the Frankfurt School, Phenomenology and Existentialism, Aesthetics, Feminism, and Western Marxist critiques of capitalism. Western Marxist texts and authors have been recognised as of great importance within socialist academic systems and wider political contexts. Aspiring students will, hence, need subject knowledge to advance research and other senior careers. This course will make available the world-leading expertise we have in Western Marxism at Essex. You study modules of your choice; develop your research, writing, and employability skills; and prepare an MA dissertation in your chosen area of research. We are involved in many exciting and interdisciplinary research projects, and have active links with other areas including Political Science, Law, Sociology, Psychoanalysis, and History. This course can be studied either full- or part-time starting in October, or full-time starting in January.
