Program Description

Develop your theoretical understanding and applied practice in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Study on a course accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) (subject to approval), preparing you for a career as a sport psychologist. Discover our high-performance specialised labs endorsed by BASES. Join a university with a long-standing reputation for excellence in teaching and research. In this Masters degree you'll gain knowledge of the practical use of psychology in sport and exercise contexts. You'll develop a critical understanding of the relationship between theoretical concepts and applied practice in the psychological factors influencing sport performance and exercise participation. The course supports you in developing the necessary practical and professional competencies to conduct needs assessments and develop interventions to support athletes across the lifespan and taking into account cultural contexts. These skills and experiences form part of the required Stage 1 training in Sport and Exercise Psychology and prepare you optimally to start your Stage 2 training to become a registered sport psychologist.
