Program Description

Become a costume designer with this extensive costume design course! Costumes speak for themselves. They tell the story of a place, an epoch and most especially of a character. Whether it be a wandering knight, a nervous banker, you will be called to clothe them and bring them to life. Conceptualizing a costume requires time travel in the past or into the future. Designing garments for an English family having a picnic on the banks of the Thames in 1776, or having to dress American political refugees exiled in Mexico in the year 2100 require extensive research. In the cinema and television industry, costumes need to be produced in step with the scriptwriter. Knowing how to mimic the natural wear-and-tear of clothes during a short or long film and keeping the clothing style cohesive throughout will demonstrate your adaptability.
