Program Description

Study the Christian faith in its historical, theological, and cultural dimensions; and explore its capacity to help profoundly impact and shape not only individual lives, but our global community as well. The Religious Studies program within the Department of Biblical and Theological Studies at Trinity Western University provides students with a comprehensive and transformative education that combines significant components within the related disciplines of Biblical Studies, Christianity and Culture, and Inter-Cultural Studies. Deepen your understanding of how religious faith intersects with virtually every facet of our busy, multi-cultural world. Discover deep connections between the biblical text and the communities of faith that produced it, the historical development of theology, and the humanizing and liberating influence the Christian faith has world-wide. This robust program will engage students in the careful and penetrating study of the Christian Scriptures, understanding the theological developments that these ancient texts and their historic interpreters produced, and the global religious dialogue that Christianity contributes to. With a deep commitment to the intellectual and spiritual flourishing of students, internationally respected scholars intentionally foster a challenging and supportive environment that allows for the exploration of the Christian tradition and how it shapes one’s worldview. This world-class education also presents students with opportunities for experiential learning in the context of travel studies abroad, mission trips, and student ministries.
