Program Description

Nursing is a profession that is both a science and an art. Science is the foundation of nursing but nursing is fundamentally about relationships. You will come to know the human condition and how patients will teach you about the need for grace and dignity in living with a chronic condition. Nurses experience joy and sorrow as they provide care to patients and their families. All people are encouraged to take up the challenge of nursing and make a difference in people's lives. The Collaborative Nurse Practitioner Program (CNPP) is an online graduate level program offered through a joint partnership between the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As a CNPP student, you will study in the fall, winter and spring-summer semesters to obtain your degree. You will complete 702 hours of clinical practice experiences in primary care settings with a licensed registered nurse (nurse practitioner). Limited hours may be completed with a primary care physician and a pharmacist. As a student, you will develop advanced nursing practice competencies while participating in community-centered practice.
