Program Description
The BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology program at the University of Portsmouth explores the mind of the criminal, learning how to apply psychological theory to criminal investigations and legal processes. The coursework covers the nature and causes of offending behavior, rehabilitation strategies, and law enforcement techniques. The program also facilitates students to understand the methodologies employed by forensic psychologists, including interviewing, psychometric testing, and expert witness testimony. Students can gain practical experience through optional placements, giving them a chance to apply their skills in a real-world setting. This degree course allows understanding complex issues related to criminal, anti-social and unusual behaviors. Furthermore, throughout the course, students are supported to develop their research skills which can be used to further their study at a postgraduate level.
