Program Description

This course is perfect for anyone who’s looking to understand how political ideas and systems shape societies. You’ll study the role of government and political institutions, exploring how their policies on everything from crime and punishment to education, healthcare and the welfare state affect the lives of the populations they serve. Throughout the course you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of political theory, the history of political ideas and political ideologies. You’ll also explore the increasingly critical area of international politics and international relations. We’ll look at contemporary issues including globalisation, the centrality of political institutions in decision-making, political and economic development, international terrorism and security.
