Program Description
Video games are an increasingly important part of contemporary life and popular culture. The new GAME program prepares students to lead and collaborate in the creation of games — from the programming that makes a game work, to the design and realization of dynamic experiences, and to the planning and management of production processes. GAME is offered concurrently at Brock and Niagara College. The program provides opportunities to explore the game space from every angle. You'll gain a broad understanding of this complex field as you look at game programming, multiple game engines, game platforms, and various design and production paradigms. You'll also examine core issues that surround games such as the creative and cultural context of games, the history of games, play, agency, narrative, dynamics and immersion. Intensive production courses are offered in Years 2,3, and 4 of the program. In these courses you'll work on collaborative teams to create advanced game components and prototypes, and ultimately produce fully realized games.
