Program Description

Gain the skills to practice as a licensed Paralegal and enjoy a rewarding and respected career in the legal field. Paralegals act independently to represent clients in provincial offences court for cases involving highway traffic offences, municipal by-law issues, liquor licensing, occupational health and safety, and civil litigation matters presented in small claims court. They also represent clients in the Ontario Court of Justice when charges involve less serious criminal offences, or in tribunal proceedings such as the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Human Rights Commission, and the Landlord and Tenant Board. In Ontario, paralegals are non-lawyer licensed agents who provide the public with legal services in specified areas of practice for a fee. Program Highlights: Combine theory and practice using Mohawk’s Mock Courtroom. Program Accreditation through Law Society of Ontario. Industry-ExperiencedFaculty licensed by the LSO. College offers Statutory Accident Benefits Course. Ideal pathway for Pre-Justice graduates.
