Program Description

The BA (Hons) International Relations program at the University of Portsmouth is a full-time, undergraduate course that focuses on the study of key international issues and global institutions. The program is designed to equip students with knowledge about major global issues, contemporary debates in the arena of international relations, and the role of global institutions. Throughout the course, students will also gain an understanding of the mechanisms of global governance and learn how to interpret, analyze, and intervene in the world around them. They will investigate today's critical issues like human rights, development, global poverty, environment, migration, terrorism, war, etc., and how these issues impact international relations. This course also offers the opportunity to study abroad, improving students' language skills and cultural understanding. On successful completion of this program, students will be ready for a career in government, international organizations, NGOs, media, academia, or any sector dealing with international affairs. The program also inculcates a range of interpersonal and self-management skills that employers value, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
